This last week, no one lost weight. The good news is that no one really gained either. Jake gained 2 pounds, but he is blaming it on the Chicago deep dish pizza he had on his trip. This week will be better. Just try and focus on portion control and sugars. Love everyone and have a great week.

Thoughts

Amy, I loved the post. I think you are right on. I have even been re-thinking the way I eat and trying to make it more realistic. I need to do better on exercising. I was doing great and then life set in. I am worried about tomorrows weigh in. We will see how it goes. Love everyone and hope that they keep it up. Thanks for posting Amy, it is a boost for me. Amy's Super Awesome Weight Loss Program

The title of this post may be a slight exaggeration, but what I'm doing is working for me.  It's what I did before, years ago, when I lost 50 pounds.  Unfortunately, I didn't stick with it.  All I'm doing is eating more fruits and veggies and less carbs, cutting down my portions, and exercising 5 days a week.  I also drink TONS of water.  I only have one diet soda a day, which is a miracle.  Jodie says he hasn't seen a pack of Diet Pepsi ever last so long in our house.  I make totally normal dinners, including things like lasagne and enchiladas, but I have a small portion of it.  And instead of having two carbs (like lasagne AND bread) we just have a veggie or side salad.  Or when we had tacos Jodie and I just had them as lettuce wraps instead of with a shell.  And you know what?  They tasted really yummy that way. 

For exercise I alternate days of cardio and muscle strengthening.  I use Just Dance 3 for most of my cardio (which Connor digs) and different exercise videos from Netflix streaming.  I do it for 30 minutes. 

Hopefully I can keep all this up.  It's only been two weeks and I feel so much better.  So let's all do this!  Don't starve yourselves!  Every Saturday Jodie and I have our "off" day.  We get one meal to eat whatever we want.  One meal a week isn't going to kill your weight loss, as long as you don't go too crazy.  Last week we had pizza, but only two slices.  Or if I go to Wendy's or something I don't upsize the meal.  Stuff like that.  Hope this info helps.  I'd like to know what everyone else does!

On an unrelated note...when you guys are doing group text messages please only text Jodie.  Jodie has plenty of text messages per month, but I only get 250.  Jodie lets me read the messages, so I'll still get them.  I keep going over, and it's 25 cents per text message over.  I love hearing from everyone, but our bank account doesn't like it.  Of course, if you're sending a text to JUST me, it's not a problem.

Day Off

So today was my day off of my diet. It was great. I had a country pizza from West Crust Pizza and a coke. It tasted awesome. No work out tonight. It has been a great day. We helped Angela's dad distribute his wheat at the stake center today. We started to grind some wheat into flour tonight and look forward to making some whole wheat bread tomorrow.

Long Day

Today was a very long day. I drove about 400 miles at work. From Abilene to Odessa to Lubbock. Lots of miles and lots of water. I tried to drink more water to keep myself full. It worked and I drank 8 bottles of water and a 1 liter. A little water logged now. Just got my work out in and going straight to bed. Hope everyone had a great day. Good night.

2 More Days till Weigh In

Tonight I decided to change things up and went on a walk with the family. Then I went on a run to try and burn some extra calories. My soreness is going away and I have decided to switch off days between my calisthenic work out and cardio. Not sure if I will loose any weight this week. So far I lost a pound and gained a pound. I think some of that is from muscle and some water weight. I hope that it starts coming off soon.

So I thought I was sore yesterday. Today was horrible. Had a hard time sitting in my chair at work. I was going to wimp out tonight but decided to see if the workout would loosen me up. This is the workout I am doing. My legs are killing me!!!!
Today was a test. I ate lunch with one of my big oil clients at a Chinese Grill. I was afraid everything would be covered in butter and rice, but I was able to find a rib eye steak with asparagus and steamed broccoli. Not so much fun eating broccoli while watching everyone else eat fried rice and honey seared scallops. But pulled through and ate my greens. Had a great workout tonight with the kids. Nothing better than watching Austen do jumping jacks and push ups. Love you guys and hope everyone is doing well. Day 3 is in the books.

Day 2

So day 2 was a little harder than yesterday. It is hard to make good food choices on the road and away from the house. I was able to keep my calories down to 1100 and drank more water than I should have. A 2 hour drive from Hobbs to Snyder took a lot longer with 3 potty breaks. I am about to start my work out then off to bed. I hope that everyone had a great day.

I am using a calorie counter app on my i-phone to track what I eat, exercise, and weight loss. It allows you to scan the bar codes on the food I eat and it pulls in all the nutritional value. You can also search food chains and all kinds of stuff. Good tool!
Weights and pics are in and we are on our way. Thanks to all that responded, I know that this is going to be great and I can't wait to see week one results.
Good start to the competition. 2 eggs, 4 pieces of turkey bacon, and a water. 339 calories, 21 grams of protein, 1 carb. I am going for a low carb and high protein life style. Daily exercise and water.

The Biggest Looser Season 2 – Round 2

Alright, so we tried this earlier in the year and due to family and life events I dropped the ball and season 2 was a failure. I am determined to make this work this time. I am recommitted to being healthy and making better decisions for my health and my future. I need your help though. We all need support and motivation and who better than our family. I was so happy to be with everyone at the reunion and spend time with everyone. Because I do not see everyone as much, I feel that this brings me closer to you and allows us to communicate better as a family. Lately I have seen several people that I know lose loved ones due to heart attacks and health related issues. I do not want that to be anyone in our family. I have noticed that I have less energy, more sickness, and all around worse health when I am not exercising and eating bad foods. I know that I can do better and so can you. So this is my proposal:
The competition, if you choose to enter, will begin July 8, 2012. It will run through November 22, 2012 with weekly weigh in due every Sunday by 10am. The registration fee will be $25 per couple due to mom and dad no later than August 1st, 2012. Please send check or cash to mom and dad. The registration fee will also be part of the winnings.

Rules

1. $25 must be to mom and dad by August 1st or you will be dropped from the competition.
2. Three strikes you’re out rule- Weights must be in by 10am every Sunday. If you miss this deadline 3 times, you will be dropped from the competition. This is important for us to keep consistency and timing.
3. There will be small monthly challenges for all contestants to complete. This will keep us motivated and on target.
4. On July 8th, you will submit a picture of your starting weight on the scale and on November 22nd, you will submit a picture of your ending weight on the scale. These are the only 2 times you will have to submit pictures of the scale. This is so we can facilitate this from 2 states away.
5. All weights must be submitted via text to me every Sunday before 10 am. I will post % weight loss, updates, and dialogue via our blog johnsonhealth2012.blogspot.com


Winner

The winner will receive a weekend get away with their spouse. Mom and dad will babysit at your house overnight, allowing you to have a relaxing weekend with no kids and enjoy your hard work. You will also receive the registration fee money to pay for a hotel, dinner, or whatever you want on your trip.
